Birth: Jun. 30, 1793
Salisbury
Merrimack County
New Hampshire, USA
Death: Dec. 17, 1856
Colebrook
Coos County
New Hampshire, USA

Family Tree shows his parents as: Benaiah Bean, Sr. and Miriam Hoyt Bean.
Rev. Benaiah married Sallie Jesseman, of Lisbon, on 2 Dec. 1819.
At the age of 12 he removed with the family to Lisbon, where he was converted under the preaching of John Colby; he was baptized in Feb. 1812, by Rev. Joshua Quimby. He moved to Whitefield in 1821, and became a member of the Freewill Baptist church in that place at its organization. In 1823, he was licensed to preach by the Sandwich Quarterly Meeting (QM). He was ordained August 24, 1828, at Whitefield, where he was pastor for about ten years, witnessing several revivals. At one time he baptized forty-one, at another forty. During the revival which began July 1, 1832, ninety were hopefully converted. While in Whitefield, he labored in Concord, VT, Jefferson and Bethlehem, NH. In 1838 he moved to Bethlehem and was pastor of the church there for eight years. Many were added to the church. As openings presented themselves he preached in adjoining towns. In 1850 he organized the Clarkville and Pittsburg church of fifteen members and became their pastor. Four years later the church numbered sixty. In 1855, the history of Colebrook gives the account that Rev. Benaiah Bean organized a Freewill Baptist Church at Colebrook. A church about this time was also organized at Stewartstown, of which he was pastor till his death.
In his decease the Lisbon Q.M. lost one of its most efficient laborers and supporters. As the oldest minister, he had the respect and esteem of all. His wise counsels helped many. During the last year of his life, he expessed his belief, in public and private, that the time of his departure was near.
