During World War I Benjamin William Penick enlisted in 1917 and served until the end of the war. In 1926 he was commander of the American Legion post in Prestonsburg, Ky. He was an agent for the Prudential (sic - s/b Provident) Accident Insurance Company from 1923 until his death.
