Phyllis Smith Downey, 86, widow of Charles Delbert Downey, of 229 Hammett Road, and recently of Greenville Place, died June 9, 2002.
Born in Louisville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Emmett W. and Caroline Bohn Smith.
Mrs. Downey was a homemaker and a member of Lutheran Church of Our Saviour and the Downey Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Gary S. and Ann Downey, of Taylors; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn D. and Bobby Cleve Jones of Greer, and Charleen D. and Frank McMahan of Greer; three grandchildren, Sharon Kilgore, Donna Burgess and Barbara Hightower; and two great-grandchildren, Russell and Robby Reed.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive, with the Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, with an Eastern Star service.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 10794, Greenville, SC 29603.
