John Gibson, Sr., loving husband and father, slept into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 13, 2003.
John was born in Southern Pines, North Carolina on June 27, 1935 to the late Thomas Gibson and Janie York Gibson.
He was a life-long resident of Bristol Township and graduated from Pennsbury High School in Middletown Township, PA.
Employed by U.S. Supply for many years, he retired in 1999.
John was active in his church and community. He was one of the founding members of Community Baptist Church, where he served for many years as Superintendent of the Sunday School Ministry, Caretaker Trustee, Business Trustee and Planning Committee member. He also served on the Prison Ministry and the Tuesday Morning Prayer Group. In the community he served as a Winder Village Civic Association captain and a s a member of the Interfaith Housing Development Corporation. He could always be counted on to help out whether it was in the church or his community.
He loved bicycle riding, junking and encouraging others to seek the Lord. He was a stranger to no one and was always busy helping others. He truly loved his family—especially his sons.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife: Madeline; six sons: John Jr., of Winter Haven, Florida; Joseph, of Winter Haven, Florida; Archie, Lenwood, Jerome and Donald all of Bristol Township, Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, church family and friends
