Harmon Hinman Beggs: "I started a little blacksmith and repair shop, but it was uphill business, for I had never been well since coming home from the South. In due time, 'Uncle Sam' granted me a pension of $6.00 a month from the time I was discharged, so at the time I received it, it amounted to a little over $1400.
"After running the shop in town for about 12 years, I sold out the business because of failing health, and in Mar. 1903, came to live on the old farm in Pine Grove, Wisconsin, where I still am at this present time, Aug. 4, 1904."
