Marion was the son of Judge Joshua Greenwood and Josephine Payne Greenwood. Marion Greenwood and John Howard founded Utah Oil Refining Company., which ( in 1968 ) was still American Oil Co., located in Salt Lake City, Utah. He became the director of the company in 1916 and was elected executive vice president in 1931. He held that position until his retirement in 1948.
Marion was elected as a member and director of the Utah Manufacturer's Association in 1915, becoming president of that organization in 1924. At the time of his death he was the oldest living president and director of the group.
