"Ben" is the son of William Seaborn "Sea or SeeBee" BECHAM (1853-1918) & Mary Elizabeth "Mollie" HARRELL BECHAM (1859-1938). He was the husband of Della Rebecca HUDSON BECHAM (1881-1954). Della was the daughter of James Russell "Ruffin" HUDSON (1857-1939) & his first wife Mary Jane ROWLAND (1857-1883). Ben & Della were married 9 December 1897 in Crawford County, Georgia. They were parents to Mary Jane BECHAM (Mrs. Daniel W. HANCOCK), Erie I. BECHAM (Mrs. Grady GORDON), Athol Curtis BECHAM, Lucy Oneda BECHAM (Mrs. James Ellis AULTMAN), William J. BECHAM, James Dalton BECHAM, Jesse BECHAM. Ben was a "Jug Maker" or a potter and a carpenter according to census records. He died at home in Fort Valley on 27 December and was buried in Society Hill Cemetery on 29 December. Society Hill is located at the present day Victory Baptist Church. Society Hill Church began in 1815 as a Methodist church.
Webb Funeral Home handled his arrangements. In 2003 Ben's grave is in need of repair as is the grave of Della. The graves were covered with concrete which is crumbling. He has a funeral marker which is often knocked off the grave when the church lawn is mown. Ben's son Jesse BECHAM is buried nearby at his parent's feet as his marker may be used as a burial reference point in the event Ben's marker is misplaced.
