Sallye M. Breitling, 78, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, H. Mathew "Mat" Breitling.
She is survived by daughters, Melanie Weaver and husband, Joe of El Reno, and Michelle Lloyd and husband, Tony of Yukon; and son, Mat Breitling and wife, Belinda of Oklahoma City; four grandsons, Ross and Alex Weaver, Derek Lloyd and wife, Daely, and Shane Lloyd; step-granddaughters, Reneè Combs and husband, Nathan, and Kelsey Lee; great-granddaughter, Alexis Lloyd; and step-great-granddaughter, Allie Combs.
Sallye was born Dec. 29, 1931, to Berry and Mamie Webster in Oklahoma City. She grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Northeast High School in 1949. Sallye met Mat, the love of her life, when he was the emcee at the YWCA Frolic Dance Club in 1949. They were married Dec. 21, 1951, and lived in Oklahoma City until they were transferred to Farmers Branch, Texas, in 1959 when Mat worked for Uniroyal. Uniroyal transferred Mat back to Oklahoma City in 1963.
Over the years Sallye worked in Oklahoma City at 20th Century Fox, Colorgraphics, The Oklahoman and the Journal Record. The Breitling family were active members of Highland Hills Christian Church and later at Western Oaks Christian Church. Sallye was also an active member of Delta Theta Chi Sorority for 33 years. Upon Mat''s retirement in 1996, they bought property at Cookson Bend, Lake Tenkiller, their favorite vacation spot since 1964. Until Mat passed away in 2008, they spent six months of each year at Lake Tenkiller. Sallye enjoyed crafts, sewing and interior decorating. She was a very unique and special lady.
The family would like to thank some of Sallye's caregivers, Dr. Christopher Kerns and Cathy Schuppert, as well as those with the Oklahoma Heart Hospital and Faith Hospice for their care and compassion during Sallye's last days at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital. They were a constant source of guidance and comfort during this difficult time.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 8701 N.W. Expressway, Oklahoma City.
