Anna Kamenz was the 2nd child born to Martin and Augusta (Hein) Kamenz in Belle Prairie Township, Beadle County, SD. In 1920 Martin and Augusta moved to Huron, SD; a town of about 14,000 people, and just 12 miles west from Belle Prairie Township. Anna lived in Huron the rest of her life.

Anna Ella M. Kamenz was born Sptember 16, 1902 in Belle Prairie Township, Beadle County, South Dakota to Martin and Augusta (Hein) Kamenz. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. In 1920 she moved to Huron with her family. She graduated from Huron High School in 1924, attended Aberdeen Normal and Spearfish Normal. She taught country school two years in the Huron and Hitchcock areas. She was employed at the Beadle County Extension Office for a few years, and retired from the Soil Conservation Office after many years.
She is survived by one brother , Walter Kamenz of Huron; two sisters, Mrs Robert (Elsie) Inrig of New Holland, PA, and Verna Lemna of Falls Church, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Gerta Thomsen and Edna Thomsen, and two nephews and one niece.
Anna died Monday morning at the Huron Nursing home at the age of 89.
