A graveside service will be held for Esther Owen Bollinger, 90 of Chico, on Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Glen Oaks Memorial Park. She passed away Monday, Dec. 4, 2006, at Enloe Hospital. Esther was born March 11, 1916 to David and Katherine Ernst in Fort Collins, Colo. She was raised in Wyoming.
Esther worked for 40 years sorting almonds for Teneco and Continental Nut. She enjoyed fishing, embroidery, arts and crafts, gardening and spending time on her house boat at Lake Oroville.
Her survivors include her four children: Barbara Freeman, Ernie Owen, Edward Owen and Dorothy Strosnider all of Chico; her fishing partner, Leonard Bhruns of Paradise; four sisters: Lillie Teeters, Dorothy Grenwald, Florence Vosler, Helen Kumelus all of Wyoming; and one brother, Floyd Ernst of Wyoming; eleven grandchildren: Mike Freeman, Randy Freeman and Jim Freeman Jr., Brent Owen, Mark Owen, April Carter, Paige Owen, Russell Owen, Andrea Owen, Christy Treadway and Lory Selleck; eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Donations may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association, in care of the Brusie Funeral Home which is handling the arrangements. Published in Chico Enterprise-Record on December 7, 2006.
