Well Known Farmer Drops Dead
While Walking in Field -- Widow
and Nine Children Survive

UKIAH, Ore., Sept. 6 -- This community was saddened yesterday by the sudden death of J.A. Bolin, better known as Al Bolin, well known farmer who had many friends in Pendleton as well as in the southern part of the county.
While starting a harvester to work on his place six miles east of Ukian Mr. Bolin dropped dead at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. He was walking with another man at the time and started to fall, being caught by his companion. He passed away immediately.
The dead man is survived by a widow and nine children.

MANY PEOPLE COME FROM DISTANCE TO ATTEND FUNERAL OF WELL KNOWN FARMER ------- (East Oregonian Special)
Ukiah, Sept. 11,--The sudden death of J. A. Bolin, who dropped dead last Tuesday at his ranch six miles east of Ukiah, has cast a gloom over the entire community.
Mr. Bolin had just started his threshing machine Tuesday morning and was superintending things when about 3 o'clock he climbed down out of a wagon and said to one of the men, "I have a pain in my chest," and only walked a few steps, fell and died in a few minutes.
Mr. Bolin was a prominent rancher and stockman and has liveed here for many years. He leaves a wife and nine children, all of whom were present at the funeral which took place at the Studivant cemetery, where Mr. and Mrs Bolin have three infant children buried. Mr.Bolin was born in Osceola, Clark county, Iowa. One sister, Mrs. Coleman of Colusa, Colusa county, California, is all that is left of his family and they could not reach her by telegram. George Bolin and family of Butter Creek, Fred Bolin and wife of Pendleton and Harry Depew, wife and children of Ritter all arrived in time for the funeral which took place Thursday.
Those coming from a distance to attend the funeral of Mr.Bolin were H. H. Arbogast, Ira Arbogast and wife of Ritter, T. P. Gilliland and wife, Mrs. Wright of Pilot Rock, Sam Nelson and wife, Charley Nelson and wife of Butter Creek.
