Willie Edith Bridge was the first Worthy Matron of the Seadrift Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Lala Oreta Bridge was the second.
Everett H. Bridge Sr. was a Bank Officer and Mayor of Seadrift. Seadrift became a resort, attracting vacationers and excursion trains from Houston and other Texas cities. Everett was involved in promoting these civic activities.
Lala was a graduate of Sam Houston Normal College in Huntsville. She took graduate courses through the years at Southwest Texas State College in San Marcos.
She taught in many South Texas and West Texas small towns and one-room schools.
Lala became a teacher and principal in the Kenedy Public Schools.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star; was active in Methodist Women's activities; and was Pesident of the 20th Century Study Club.
She married Archie Davis Ammons on 02 Mar 1924 at the Methodist Church, Beeville, Bee Co., TX
