MRS. ABBOTT BARROWS

Luella Cook, eldest child of Lemuel and Georetta Wilson Cook, was born near Kahoka, Missouri September 1, 1868 and departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ray Walker of Kahoka, at 2:45 p.m. September 19, 1944 at the age of 76 years and 19 days.

She was married to Thara Abbott Barrows on February 9, 1892. Their residence was established in Clark County where they have always lived.

Seven children blessed this home. Georetta Wood of Revere, Stella Colter and Mabel Schuster of Wyaconda, Florence Walker and Lee A. Barrows of Kahoka, Margaret Westbrook of Lancaster and Wayne H. Barrows of Kahoka, now overseas.

Though Mrs. Barrows health had been failing for some time, she was seriously ill only a week.

Besides the son, Wayne, she has five grandsons in the service of their country. Stuart B. Wood, Craig Walker, Leland Schuster, Leroy Barrows and Kenneth Westbrook.

Besides her companion, who passed away March 5, 1930, she was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, Granville, a sister, Susie Grate and brother, Gilbert Cook.
Those left to mourn her departure are all of the afore named children, twenty-five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Barrows, San Bernardino, Calif., Mrs. C. F. Snyders, Ashton, Mo. and Wm. Cook, Rock Island, Ill. Since early girlhood she has been a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church.

She was a devoted wife, a kind and indulgent mother and a true friend. A dear one is gone, a life filled with doing for others. Surely Heaven is her reward.

Funeral services were conducted from the Kahoka Baptist Church Thursday afternoon at two o'clock with the Rev. Monte Peterson officiating. Pallbearers were Alfred Beal, Joe Waggoner, Henry Pohlman, George Wendling, Guy Bourgoise and Walter Kuntz.

Music by Mrs. Helen Ragan, Mrs. Pauline Mileham, Mrs. Creva Gutting and Mrs. Helen Butler at the piano.

Flower girls were Geraldine and Marilyn Barrows, Roberta Rule, Iris Jean Westbrook, Alberta Wood, and Betty Walker.
Interment in the Kahoka Cemetery.
