HABERNIGG, Virginia Dare, (Granny), 84, of Pembroke and Wheatland Hills in Christiansburg, passed through the veil to meet her Savior and loved ones who were there waiting for her on Saturday morning March 1, 2003 at New River Valley Medical Center in Radford. She was born in Pembroke on January 19, 1919, a daughter of the late John Bill and Janie Smith Williams and was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Edward Roscoe Habernigg, (she and Roscoe were married on October 23, 1937 and have been sealed for all time and eternity in the Washington, DC Temple); a son, Kennis Lowe Habernigg; a son-in-law, Jody Falls; two granddaughters, Meredith Renee Falls and Kendra Kay Habernigg; a sister, Annie Williams; and two brothers, Willard B. and Russell M. Williams. She had worked at the Celanese Celco Plant and was retired from Poly-Scientific in Blacksburg. She was a member of AARP, RSVP, a volunteer for the Bloodmobile, and at Eastern Elementary School. She was a member of the New River Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and after moving to Wheatland Hills, a member of the Christiansburg Ward. She had a strong and loving testimony of her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ and loved sharing her testimony and faith with others. She loved doing genealogy and compassionate service for others and loved cooking for her children and grandchildren. She and her sister-in-law, Joanna Myers, served faithfully for sixteen years as Visiting Teachers in her church, never missing a month to complete their visiting assignments. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Carol H. and husband Henry Bugg of Chase City, Sue Shirley H. and husband, Donald Parcell of Christiansburg, Barbara H. Falls of Blacksburg; a daughter-in-law, Jewell C. Habernigg of Pembroke; nine grandchildren, Sabrina Habernigg, Raquel Bickel, Mark Parcell, Melissa Hensel, Lori Falls, Steven Falls, Karen Conner, Krista Wilburn, Andrew Bugg; nine great-grandchildren, Makayla Brown, Adeleigh and Joshua Parcell, Keegan Bickel, Jacob and Cameron Conner, Kaitlyn, Tyler and Jayson Bugg; a sister, Margie Ferrell of Pembroke; two sisters-in-law, Georgia Williams of Maybrook and Joanna Myers of Pembroke; many loving and special nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special friends, Verna Long and LaRae Cummins; and her family at Wheatland Hills, whom she dearly loved, and who provided such special love and care for her. She truly loved her family at Wheatland. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 3, 2003 at 1 p.m. in the New River Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Pembroke with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke Sunday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.
