Jean Delores (Schmidt) Andrews, 86, died on September 16, 2013 at her Pompano Beach home. She was born July 23, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio, was a 1945 graduate of Lakewood High School and attended her 65th high school reunion in 2010. After marrying the late James Elston Andrews on November 23, 1945, she raised four children and was active in Junior Women's Club, Girl Scouts and the Great Books Foundation Club in Bay Village, Oh. In 1971, the family moved to Pompano Beach, Fla., and a few years later, Jean went to college and earned her B.S.H.M.from Florida International University in Miami. She worked in the Broward County Public Schools as a cafeteria manager for many years and retired from Ft. Lauderdale High School. During her years in Florida, she was active in the Broward County Shell Club, served as a docent at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park and most recently, as a docent at Bonnet House Museum & Gardens. She is survived by four daughters: Bertie Moroney, Donna Russell, Claire Andrews and Elizabeth White; six grandchildren: Heather Sobiski, Jamie Moroney, April Malmborg, Brian Frederick, Anastasia and Alexandra Russell; and 11 great-grandchildren. She will be interred with her husband at Lakewood Cemetery in Rocky River, Oh.
