Ferman L. Clelland, 68, Rt 4, Inverness, Florida, died at 7:00 p.m. Friday at a medical center in Inverness, Florida.

He was born on July 13, 1911 in Cole Station, Indiana to Lawrence Edwin Clelland (1892-1946) and Mary M. Nipp (Clelland) (Collins) (Howell) (1895-1975). He had two sisters: Edna E. Clelland and Lillian Eleanor Clelland (Mathias) (Owings). He also had 6 step-brothers and sisters: Robert L. Clelland, Wallace E. Clelland, Ruth Clelland, Margaret I Clelland (Carmichael), Phillip Clelland, and James W. Clelland.

He lived most of his life in Marin before moving to Florida in February. He was a retired employee of the Marion City Water Works, and he was chief of Marion Civil Defense in 1960.

Survivors include his wife Helen Lucille Massie (Davis) (Clelland) (1911-1997), two daughters, Mrs. Janice Smith, Wabash, and Mrs. Ted (Ralpha) Hamilton, Marion; one sister, Mrs. Leon (Edna) Sprague, Sun Valley, Nevada; a step-mother, Mary Clelland, Indianapolis; two step sons, Alva Ray Davis, Tenn., and Oren Davis, Florida; seven step-daughters: Patricia Yanes, Marion, Maxine Green, Florida, Kathryn Wheatley, Florida, Mary Evans, Indiana, Iness Rangel, Texas, Jessie Shaw, Marion, and Becky Davis, Marion; three half brothers, Robert Clelland, Newport California, James Clelland, Indianpolis, Phillip Clelland, Indianpolis; one half-sister, Margaret Carmichael, Indianpolis, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and 39 step-grandchildren, and 18 step-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Owen-Wellert-Duncan Funeral Home, 2722 S. Washington St., with the Rev. James McKeon officiating. Burial will be in the Marion I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
