Leland B. "Lee" Downes Jr.,76 , of Cortland passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday. He was born Oct. 17, 1937 in Cortland, the son of the late Leland and Doris Smith Downes Sr.He has been a longtime resident of the Cortland area. He graduated from Cortland High School. Lee was the proprietor of the Downes Motel for many years. In his spare time he enjoyed flying planes, fishing and hunting. His memberships included the Cortland Elks, Moose and the Cortland Country Club.
