Cora Mae Boykin Cook, beloved daughter of Ruth Barnes Boykin Smith and the late Howard Taft Boykin, was born in Wilson, North Carolina on May 9, 1937.
Cora began her education in Wilson, North Carolina. In 1943 Cora parents relocated their family to Baltimore, Maryland, where Cora completed her education in The Baltimore City Public Schools System.
Cora met and married Rudolph Cook after completing High School. And later divorced.
Cora, affectionately known as "Heaven Aqueela" was a very outspoken and free spirited individual who loved music. Cora began singing at a very young age. Cora's Singing Career lead her to New York and California. Cora met and singed with veriest famous people and groups. Cora attempted to pursue her career in singing as an Solo-List until her health interrupted her singing career.
On Thursday, April 15, 2000 at Bon Secours Hospital God quietly called Cora into His Heavenly Home. Cora will be sincerely missed by all who loved and knew her.
One sister, Edna Ruth Boykin preceded Cora in death.
Cora leaves to cherish her loving memories: her mother, Ruth Barnes Boykin Smith; stepfather, Archie Smith; one sister, Helen Bazemore; two brothers, Edward Lee Boykin and James Clinton Boykin; five aunts; four uncles; seven nieces; five nephews; ten great nieces; ten great nephews; two great great nephews; one brother-in-law; one sister-in-law and a host of other relatives and friends.
