from ground reading published in Dakota Territory in South Dakota.

Times no. 17 February 16, 1916 page 1 city: Sundance

"Cecil Davis succumbed to pneumonia at the ranch near Kara mountain Feb. 13, 1916, following an illness of about one week. Funeral services were held at the Inyan Kara church yesterday forenoon, Mr. Kletzing of Sundance Methodist church conducting same. The remains were given a resting place beside those of his sister, Mrs. Jessie Stevens, who passed away about three weeks ago. Cecil was an industrious and promising young man and will be greatly missed in the community in which he grew to manhood. It is the desire of the family that the Times express their appreciation of the aid and sympathy tendered during Cecil's illness and after his death."

The Crook County Monitor no. 9 February 17, 1916 page 5 city: Sundance

Cecil, You bravely survived one near-death experience several years ago only to fall prey this time to pneumonia. That other little incident involving you, your brother and the she-wolf--- we'll just keep that to ourselves. Gone but not forgotten---
