John Robert (Bob) Belt, a longtime resident of Severna Park, died February 5 in Seattle, Washington. Bob was born in Baltimore in 1916, graduated from Johns Hopkins University, served in the Navy in World War II, and spent his civilian career with the Naval Ship Research and Development Center in Annapolis. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris Dushane Belt, and is survived by his daughters Barbara (Paul) and Laura (Maridee) and Flora (Milton). Bob shared his love of sailing and the Chesapeake Bay with his family and spent many happy days on his boat. Bob moved to Seattle in 2010 to be near one daughter and quickly made friends to share sailing stories. A memorial service will be held at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church in Severna Park at 11 AM on April 12.
