Uncle Bill never married. My mother told me when he was in WW2 in Japan, he met & fell in love with a Japaness girl. Wrote home to his mother for permission (in those days parents were respected) to marry her. Jozefa (his mother)said NO (Japan @ that time was our enemy). That was the one & only love of his life. He returned after WW2 & took after his widowed mother. There was never anything ever said about his 'love'. When he died upon the closing of the casket a picture he had of his 'love' was placed in the casket with him. He was a bartender by trade & had his own living quarters, but spent 99% of his off time with his mother.
