Fred was raised in Arapaho and graduated from Arapaho High School in 1969. He started his working career doing farm labor. He was employed with the City of Clinton as well as the Cotton Oil Mill. In 1999 he worked at the Southwestern Oklahoma State University in the Maintenance Department but was forced to medically retire in 2004.
He was married to Pam King on April 23, 1982 and they have lived and raised their children in Clinton.
He is a member of the Church of Christ, he enjoyed fishing, playing golf and he loved to watch Oklahoma University Football.
