immigrated to the US in the spring of 1796 from Grey Abbey and then Belfast with his wife Catherine and young son Robert. Another son, Alexander, was born aboard ship on the voyage. After living in Pennsylvania for about 5 years, a daughter, Mariah, was born in May of 1801. Two years later, the family relocated near Jamestown, Greene County, Ohio. Around 1825, the family moved to the northeast corner of Scott County on Quick's Creek. Here James Lowry lived until his death. He is thought to be buried on his farm, but there is no tombstone.
