In Memoriam
On the 20th day of the 11th month, 1892, Mrs. Belinda Barrett entered into "the rest that awaited the people of God."
Born in the early part of the present century, she had passed the allotted three score years and ten by more than a decade and in her long
and useful life had seen much of the care and trouble that is the portion of all.
Born in Rockbridge County, Virginia, on the 31st day of the 3rd month, 1810, she came with her parents, John and Elizabeth Skeen to Ohio in 1825.
In 1840, on the 28th day of the 11th month, she was married to Lewis Barrett, with whom she lived happily until his death in 1887.
The three children whom God had given them preceded her to the rest eternal.
Mrs. Barrett's home was a hospitable one; here the men of God always found rest and welcome. She obeyed the injunction to care for the weak
and afflicted; the poor and the sick she remembered also.
During the years of her widowhood she has been a welcome member of the home of her brother, John, surrounded by every comfort and
ministered to by loving hands.
For ten years her health has been failing and for more than two years past has been a confirmed invalid, and although she had perceptibly failed
for several days, her friends felt no unusual solicitude, but perhaps the sufferer knew that the silver cord was soon to be loosened as she said
I'm going to heaven, John."
The gentle presence, serene spirit and kindly smile of Aunt Linda will long be remembered by neighbors and friends.
"No longer weary or spent or lone,
she dwells "in the peace of God."
