Willie Bell Gary Burcham was the daughter of Rev. John Willie Gary and Sallie Ida Downing. She was born in Lafayette, Texas on January 31, 1921. She lived the majority of her life in Mississippi and was a member of the Hollandale Church of God.

Willie Bell had nine siblings: Jodie Ray Gary, Dollie Marie Gary (Tatum), Tabatha Pauline Gary (Cole), Maudie Dean "Maudine" Gary, John Cornell "JC" Gary, Melvin Cleo Gary, Thelma Gary (Wolfe), William Thomas "Bill" Gary, and Claudius "Claudy" Gary.

Willie Bell, a homemaker, was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Eugene Burcham. They were married in 1937. Together, they had five children: Harland Burcham, John A. Burcham, Lisa Burcham, Martha Burcham (Bone, Neil), and Gloria Burcham (Woods).

Willie Bell died on July 26, 2006 in Hollandale. She is buried alongside her husband at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Greenville.
