Age 93 of Roseville, MN
Went home to meet his wife Ruby on February 17, 2017. Also preceded in death by his parents, Hjalmar and Gertrude; siblings, Albin and Glenn, and brother-in-law Ray Bailey. Survived by children, Joyce (Kevin) Firkus; Dr. Gerald (Raquel); granddaughter Nichole (Johnathon) Lindgren; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Weston; siblings, John (Elvis), Evelyn Bailey; and many nieces and nephews. Gordon grew up on a farm in Wisconsin, entered the Navy in 1943, volunteering for submarine duty, he spent two years in South Pacific coming back from Japan to Hawaii on the Japanese Sub I 400, the world’s largest. Gordon and Ruby enjoyed life together, camping, fishing, snowmobiling, traveling all states and Hawaii – seeing relatives in Alaska, Denmark, and Sweden. Gordon worked in auto repair, straightening frames and aligning wheels. He retired after the last years at Northwestern College. Funeral Service 11 am Saturday, February 25 at ROSEVILLE MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 2245 Hamline Ave. N., 651-631-2727, with visitation beginning at 10 am. Burial Milltown Cemetery, WI. Memorials preferred to Children’s Home Society.
