William R. Abernethy, 66, of Grant Street, East Brady, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning (April 26, 1961) at his home. Mr. Abernethy was born February 27, 1895 at Houtzdale, a son of Thomas and Susan (Nicholas) Abernethy. A veteran of World War I, Mr. Abernethy was a retired custodian for the East Brady Area Schools. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Edna (Hanst) Abernethy; a son, William C. at home; two brothers, John R. of Pittsburgh and Roy of Birmingham, Michigan; and a number of nieces and nephews. Preceding Mr. Abernethy in death were two sons, Richard and Raymond, two sisters and a brother. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday at NcNaughton-McKinney Funeral Home, East Brady, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday. Rev. Albert J. Renwick, pastor of the First Methodist Church, East Brady, will officiate. Interment will take place in Knox Cemetery.
