Hans Jorgen Jensen was the son of Claus Petter Jensen and Caroline Skjoth. He was born in Nustrup, Haderslev, Denmark in 1854 (according to his Denmark birth record). He emigrated to America in 1873, and for a time lived in River Falls, Wisconsin. He married Stena Andersen Gilstad in Gilman Township, Pierce County, Wisconsin and they settled in Cylon, St. Croix County, Wisconsin. They later moved to the Ashland area where they had a homestead in Kelly Township, Bayfield County, Wisconsin.
Hans and Stena had six children: Marie, Curtis, Artilda, Harry, Hazel and Gladys.
He farmed until his son, Harry Jensen, took over the farm. Hans and Stena remained on the farm with their son and his family until they passed away. Hans died at the age of 97.
