Surrounded by his family at bedside singing "Precious Memories" J. L. Gregory, 86, took his last breath and his spirit soared to heaven.

He was born in Anderson County to Martin and Mary Bell Crum Gregory.

He married Joyce Martin Gregory on December 5, 1942 and they moved to Dallas where he worked for Mrs. Bairds Bread until he was called into service. He served in the United States Navy in Corpus Christi.

After his service they moved back to Palestine to spend the rest of their married lives. He was a retired carpenter, an avid outdoors man, enjoying hunting, fishing and watching wildlife. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed pranking family and friends.

He was a member of Lone Pine Baptist Church. He was a devoted family man, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, J.L. "Sonny" Gregory, Jr.; and two brothers, Paul and Lewis Gregory and sister, Dorothy Corley.
