Other than a cherished mother, Shirley Bowen was known for her extensive knowledge of the Smith, Parson, and Wright family and her love for that history and genealogy of those families.

She was a United Daughter's of the Confederacy, and Daughter of the American Revolution, both of which required extensive genealogical study and documentation.

She authored the cookbook "Seasoned With Love, A Collection of Smith Family Recipes" which were much more than a collection of recipes from the family of Jim and Jeffy Smith, but an important genealogy which we share. She was also author of the Smith/Wright Newsletter. We would always be on the edge of our seat wondering what new tidbit of information she would bring to light that month. I still have all of mine on hand.

If they wanted to know ANYTHING about those families, you could count on Shirley knowing it and letting you know about it. She was so generous with her time and knowledge, her death leaves a gapping hole with the loss of that knowledge. ... where is our Shirley Bowen now?
