Uhrichsville - Charles Baker, 67, of 518 N. Uhrich st. died Saturday night in Twin City Hospital of emphysema. He had been ill for 5 years. Born at Tippecanoe, he was a son of the late Rondo and Ella Lyons Baker. A retired kiln fireman at Superior Clay, he had formerly resided in Tippecanoe and was a member of the Methodist Church there. Surviving are his wife, the former Gladys Morgan, whom he married in 1927; 3 sons, 2 daughters, 2 sisters, Mrs. Ila Warrick of Tuscon, Ariz., and Mrs. Henry (Fern) Pittis of here; a brother, Birney Baker of Canton and 7 grandchildren. A brother, daughter and sister preceded him in death. Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. in R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home with Rev. H. R. Saunders officiating. Interment will be in Greenmont Cemetery at Freeport. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Originally published in the Times Reporter Nov 1969.
