EASTMAN - Services for James M. Allen will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Zebulon Baptist Church, with burial in Orphans Cemetery. Allen, 79, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, in the Dodge County Hospital.
A native of Laurens County, he had lived most of his life in Dodge County. He was the son of Charlie M. and Eula Mae Stephens Allen. Allen was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict. He was a retired correctional officer and Dodge County school bus driver. Allen was also a Wal-Mart employee and a member of Zebulon Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie B. Allen; children Barbara Jackson and Mary Ann Widener, both of Dublin, Sandra Ussery of Brunswick, Vickie Houser of Tallahassee, and Tim Allen, Danny Allen and Andrew Allen, all of Eastman; brothers Buford Allen, Hoyt Allen and Charles Allen, all of Barnesville, and Felton Allen of Warner Robins; sister Christine Allen of Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Horne Funeral Home, Eastman.
