Alisa loved creating paintings and other crafts. She learned to crochet from her grandmother, Alma Bass Rhodes. Alisa was gifted in painting and crocheting. After her bone marrow transplant, she continued crocheting hats for others and donating them to other cancer patients at the SECU Family House and oncology clinic at UNC, even though very ill and recovering herself and back in the hospital dealing with a setback. Over the years, she created jewelry, cross stitch and needlepoint pieces, often giving them to others to enjoy. She also loved taking photographs. One of her favorite places was the beach. Walking along the shore, picking up shells, taking pictures or fishing on the pier, it didn't matter as long as she was close to the ocean. She did love to fish though and looked forward to her beach trips. The NC and TN mountains were also a special place for her to visit.
Children and animals had a very special place in Alisa's heart. She had tremendous love for her niece and nephew and loved spending time with them. She would plan her day around their athletic events so she could attend. She almost always had a dog and greatly cared for them, making sure they were loved and taken care of, even when she was sick and not feeling well herself.
Alisa enjoyed working at Walmart and was greatly disappointed when her doctors said she could no longer work due to her health. She missed working and being around her coworkers and the customers there. She looked forward to being well so that she could return to work.
