Jean attended Barnard College and the Julliard School of Music for two years and also attended the University of Alabama and Birmingham-Southern.

Dr. Jean Dwyer Von Redlich of 3936 Clairmont Ave., died Sunday. She was a counselor for the Jefferson County Schools. Dr. Von Redlich attended Barnard College in New York City, where she studied voice under Enrico Rosati and appeared in the Broadway musical "The Merry Widow." She received a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in speech pathology, and a PhD in educational psychology, all at the University of Alabama. She served a short time in the U.S. Air Force as a first lieutenant. Dr. Von Redlich served on the faculty at Texas Tech as assistant professor of speech pathology and taught at the University of Alabama. She was listed among "Who's Who Among Women in American Colleges and Universities." Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elmwood Cemetery, with Johns-Ridout's Southside directing. Surviving is her mother, Mrs. Marguerite Dwyer, Birmingham.
