Rosario Nicola Luci was born in Ardore, Calabria, Italy. He came to the US in the early 1900's to work in the PA coal mines, leaving a wife and two daughters in Italy. He made at least four trips back to Italy before his untimely death in 1927 in a coal mine accident: he fell in mine #35, resulting in a broken neck and crushed chest. According to his nephew, Rosario (Ross) Thomas Luce, Uncle Rosario had just purchased his daughter's wedding dress in the US and was scheduled to return to Italy to attend her wedding. Sadly, he was never able to make that trip.
