John Michl
Birth: 1795
Bavaria (Bayern), Germany
Death: Sep. 12, 1849

Following is based on email dated April 29, 2012 from

Birth 1795 in Bayern,

Death has been rumored to be 12 Sep 1849 in enroute from LeHavre to New York on the Zurich, family identification number 3035550. Legend has that he died one day before the ships arrival date of 13 sep 1849 and was buried in Syracruse, New York. Other versions of the story indicates he died while enroute to Illinois on the Erie Canal. Traveling with him were his wife Catherine and sons, Xavier and Martin. Joseph and Nicholas were already in Illinois. Daughter Theresia arrived separately and settled in Pennsylvania with husband George Kerner. Because of the date error on the gravestone, it appears the monument was purchased long after his death.
