Cecil A. Critchlow was born in Pulaski County, Indiana on Oct. 22, 1881. He came to Kansas with his grandparents in 1888. They made their home near Baileyville, KS where he grew to manhood. The family moved to Blue Rapids, KS in 1911 and he served as superintendent of the Blue Rapids Telephone Co. until 1919 when he started the garage business which he continued until 1936.
He was united in marriage to Nellie Snook in 1904. They lived in Axtell where he was a telephone lineman. Three children were born to them, Aletha, Charles and Eugene. His wife passed away in 1913.
In 1914 he married Jennie Monteith, daughter of John A. and Sarah Fincham Monteith.
C. A. Critchlow, 75, for many years a resident of the Blue Rapids community, passed away at the Riley County Hospital in Manhattan, KS on Nov. 23, 1956. He had been in poor health for the past few years, during most of the past year was confined to his home.
Survivors were his children; Aletha Fenner, Charles F. Critchlow of Boston, Mass., and Eugene A. of Plaster City, Calif.; his wife of the home; two sisters; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted in the Methodist Church with Rev. T. F. Rudisill officiating, and burial was in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, rural Blue Rapids, KS with Hill-Perry Funeral Services in charge of arrangements.
