In life, Dwight was generous with his time and talents, someone who was glad to help others. A good son, he helped his parents on the farm in the Old Carrollton area and also helped neighbors. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Coon Rapids and a member of the Methodist Youth Fellowship ( MYF ) that met on Sunday nights. He belonged to and held office in 4-H, Future Farmers of America (FFA), Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) and played football and basketball.

His schooling was Old Carrollton from K. through 8th grades then High School at Glidden Ralston in Glidden , Iowa.

Family was very important to Dwight. His only niece at the time, Annette, was 13 months old when he passed away, and he always enjoyed playing with her and spending time with his sister's family.

Dwight Eldon Roller was a bright young man whose life was cut short by a tragic car accident, coming home from a teen dance, the summer before his senior year of high school at Glidden Ralston High. He had just picked up his football equipment before he left for the dance. Just three weeks prior, he had been the usher at his cousin's wedding, who considered him to be like a brother.

He is mourned and dearly missed by his family to this day.
