Served in US Army 1938-1941, honorable discharge before Pearl Harbor. After Pearl Harbor, joined the US Army for a second term of service, 1942-1945, during WWII. Served in Armored Division in Europe. After the war, worked for the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad in Wichita, Kansas and later moved to Topeka, Kansas.
