Death: Feb. 14, 1917

NOTE: This memorial is under construction {Rev. 02.24.2014}
Friderika Rebecca (Reka/Rika) Hoefner was likely born in Germany and emigrated prior to her 1856 marriage to Michael Dittmer. There is a possibility that she may have come to the U.S. with young children as a widow; more recent genealogy suggests she may have been born a Dittmer and arrived without the father of her children or his name in the United States. (STILL RESEARCHING).

The 1880 US Census states she was b. New York; the 1870 US Census states b. Ohio. At this time, her immigration and genealogy is still being researched.

Name: Friderika's name has many varied spellings, likely due to the German language barrier. Her son Joseph's 1894 Indiana Marriage records show her name as "Rebecca Hoefner," and "Rebecca Hoefuër," son Frank's 1883 Indiana Marriage record shows "Becca Hoefner," son George's 1888 Indiana Marriage record "Fredrica," son Louis 1895 Indiana Marriage record "Fredrica Hoevner," dau. Anna's 1895 Indiana Marriage record "Fredrica Haovener," dau. Louisa's 1896 Indiana Marriage record "Frederica Hoeffner," to name a few!

On 06 May, 1856, Rika married Michael Dittmer (Ditmer) and they had 10 children:

1-Elizabeth Dittmer (c. 1857 -)
