Her husband died in 1905. Mrs. LeRoy then purchased the LeRoy hotel from Stegmiller. She managed the institution until it burned on December 1, 1907. Undismayed, Mrs. LeRoy purchased the old Stambaugh school building and conducted a hotel on that site until 1935 when she was stricken with paralysis and disabled.
For the past four years she has been invalided.
Mrs. LeRoy is survived by three brothers, James N. Smith of Chicago, Joseph B. Smith of Sacramento, California, W. Wellington Smith of Los Angeles; and a sister, Mrs. William Reitmeyer of Stambaugh.
The body now lies at the Buchanan Funeral home in Iron River. Rosaries will be said this evening by the Women's Catholic Order of Foresters at 7:00 p.m., by the Daughters of Isabella at 7:30 p.m., and the Knights of Columbus at 8:00 p.m.
Mrs. LeRoy was a member of the St. Agnes Altar society, chief ranger of the W.C.O.F. and a Red Cross worker during the World War.
