In Loving Memory

Susan D. Parker, 60, of Lake Forest Park, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014. She was born January 25, 1953, the daughter of the late Philip Van and Natalie Grace (Reebel) Dick. Susan graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in computer science, following which she began a rewarding career as a programmer/analyst with Safeco Insurance. It was there that she met Michael Parker. They married on the 3rd of May, 1980.

Susan belonged to the Lord, heart and soul. She was active in her church in many roles over the years, including singing in the choir, doing the bookkeeping, and working on Vacation Bible School, Pioneer Girls, Sunday School and Children's Church.

As a mother to three Susan began 15 years teaching computer classes and providing technical support at Shoreline Christian School, and growing in fellowship with many families. She was always pleased to see students take up careers in technology. Susan would continue to be a computer resource for friends and family all of her life. After her time teaching she continued to support Christian education, working with Christian Schools International to organize its annual teacher conference.

Susan had an adventurous streak, and loved to travel. She took up skydiving in college. Her first plane ride ended with her jumping out of the plane. She backpacked thru Europe for 10 weeks. She went white water rafting with her high school students. The whole family spent many happy vacations camping together and hiking in the Northwest.

In recent years Michael and Susan traveled by land and sea to Alaska, to Oregon, and along the East Coast. During this time she continued working with CSI, and also found a new community to serve at her local Weight Watchers, working part time in various capacities to support weekly meetings.

Susan is survived by Michael, her husband of 33 years, daughter Emma Parker, sons Joel and Matthew Parker, sisters Barbara Lewis and Nancy Rota, brothers, Douglas Timms, and Steve Dick, and stepbrothers Jack, Jim, and Chris Stedman, and their families.

Susan loved the Lord and was truly blessed by the people and communities she gave her time and passions to. We miss her terribly and send our love.
