Avery "Ben" Beaver, 76, of Murphy, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Murphy Medical Center Nursing Home.

He was a native of Cherokee County and the son of the late Avery Beaver and Elizabeth Flaming Beaver.

Ben was an inside office repairmen for a telephone company. He was a member of Model Aviators Club, Brasstown Carvers and Martins Creek Volunteer Fire Department. Ben enjoyed remote control aircraft and model trains. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Beaver.

He is survived by one son, Brandon Beaver and wife Chasity of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Lloyd Beaver of Elkin and Frank Beaver of Green River, Wyo.; and two grandchildren, Avery and Audrey Beaver.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. The Rev. Aud Brown officiated. Burial was in Little Brasstown Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Benji Plemmons, Jacob Plemmons, Ryan Plemmons, Junior Fleming, Nathan Harbin and Matt Cook.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home.
