Lela was born in Sawpit, CO and attended a one room schoolhouse with the rest of her brothers and sisters. Lela moved to Arizona with her family. Lela married Claude J. Cullumber on May 29, 1921. Claude, a widower, had two very young sons, James and George. Lela and Claude had five more children and Lela loved all seven of their children. Lela was a teacher before she became a full time Mother, wife, and homemaker. Everyone loved Lela.
