Death: Dec. 18, 1790

John Sheffield may have been buried at Bear Marsh Baptist Church Cemetery in what is now known as Beautancus. It is extremely likely that he may have been buried on his own rather extensive plantation as well. It is unknown where the burial took place.

John owned several plots of land in two areas. The first was near William of Duplin's first land survey that reverted to the state, and within a few miles of William's second plot adjoining Isham's land. John sold his first plot after moving to the Goshen tract.

His second plot was in the western part of the county above Goshen Creek, and on Bear Marsh. John moved there in the late 1770's, and you recall he married Elizabeth Graddy in 1779. The plat that looks sort of like a horseshoe, #1351 near Mons Pocoson (Pocoson comes from the Indian word for swamp) he gave one prong to son William who went to Pulaski County Ga. and the other to son Ephraim in his Will.

John's first wife was Nancy Turner Sheffield: Children of that marriage were Ephrain Sheffield RWS, William Sheffield who died in Pulaski Ga, Nancy, Louisa, Mary, and Catherine.

Second wife was Elizabeth Graddy married September 29, 1779: Children of that marriage were: Isham 1780, Bryant 1781, Wright 1784, West 1788, Tabitha, Arthur of Early County, GA January 18, 1790.
