William C. Burns served as a Joint State Representative in the Indiana General Assembly in 1947-48. He was a key member of the Indiana Sate Statue Re-organization Committee and as a result the laws ot the state are named "The Burns Statues. In addition, William served one term as a Bartholomew County Deputy Sheriff and was a Mason. William's spouse was Ruth Veal Burns and they had one son, Tyrrell C. Burns Sr.
