George F. Bumsted
Died On Saturday
In His 90th Year
George F. Bumsted, one of McHenry county's most respected citizens, died Saturday night, October 27, 1945, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Howard Walkington, with whom he lived.
The deceased was born on April 6, 1856, at Dundee, Illinois. Had he lived until next April he would have reached 90 years of age.
Although feeble, he was apparently in good health until the last. On Saturday he was up and out of doors, watching men at work. After a hearty supper, he was sitting in his chair, when he slumped to the floor. Death was instantaneous.
For more than forty years he had lived in the Woodstock and Greenwood communities. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Vera Vogel of Richmond, and Olivene, Mrs. Howard Walkington of Greenwood; two sons, Edwin of Beloit, Wis., and Eugene of Omaha, Nebr.; also one sister, Mrs. Mae Adams of Chicago, and one brother, Charles, of Danbury, Iowa.
The remains are at Merwin's funeral home, where services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 30, at 2:00 p.m., in charge of Guardian lodge, No. 60, I.O.O.F., of which order he had been a member for 57 years.
Rev. John Dickson of the Greenwood Methodist church will conduct the services, while burial will be in the West Dundee cemetery.
The deceased was a good citizen, highly respected by a large circle of friends. For a number of years he has lived in retirement because of his advanced age.
