Obituary published in The Gospel Messenger, August 12, 1899, page 511:

BALL At Bellville, Kans., July 21, 1899, John Freeman Ball, aged 10 years, 6 months and 22 days. The cause of his death is not definitely known. He had been working in the field with another lad, Edwin Orr. While returning to the house he fell from the wagon. It is uncertain whether he was kicked by the horse or run over by the wagon. The back of his skull was crushed, producing nearly instant death. His life was an example for all in obedience and honesty. He always strove to be punctual at Sunday school. He took great interest in learning and doing good. Services at the Brethren church, by Bro. A.C. Daggett, from 1 Sam. 20:3.

Rose Bradley.
