She was a great Norwegian cook and thrived on involvement in community affairs. Often the first to arrive and the last to leave. She enjoyed crocheting andvisiting with friends.
Survivors include a son and his wife; Wayne and Clarine Ambroson of Leland; eight grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Walter who died in 1956; a daughter, Maxine Cunningham; two brothers, Grant and Tilford Nordskog; and two sisters Amanda Brua and Helen Hagen.
Funeral service for Selma Ambroson, 94, of Forest City was held Monday at Our Sabiors Lutheran Church in Leland. She died April 2, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City. Rev. Dan Christensen officiated.
A group comprised of Louaine Karkow, DeAnn Ambroson, Terry Ambroson, Larry Ambroson, Anne Howell and Diana Karkow sang two songs. Organist was Sue Johnson.
Casket bearers were Terry Ambroson, Vance Ambroson, James Wubben, Larry Ambroson, Duane Wubben and Robert Wubben. Burial was in Forest Home Cemetery, Leland, with Petersen Lund Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Selma T.Ambroson, the daughter of Gregor and Guri (Halstad) Nordskog, was born Aug. 29, 1904, in Thompson. She received her education in rural school and attended Lake Mills High School.
Aug. 30, 1922, she was united in marriage to Walter Ambroson. The couple made their home on the farm west of Leland where she was an active part of the operation.
Ambroson was a charter member of the Leland Study Club, a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and Circle. She was an avid reader and loved flowers. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, having them for overnights and holidays.
