Axel E (Ackie) Edwardson, 68, of 1058 Lombard St., died Sunday 1 Aug 1965 at 10 pm at his home. He had been ill several years. He was a former member of the Galesburg Police Department, serving 20 years and 4 months.
Funeral services were held at Kimber and West Chapel. Burial was in the Knoxville Cemetery.
Mr. Edwardson was born on 7 Feb 1897 in Galesburg, where he was a lifelong resident. He attended Galesburg public schools. He was married to Alta Means in 1923 at Knoxville. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Alpha Masonic Lodge, and the American Legion. He was a Navy veteran of World War 1.
He is survived by his widow; two sons, William of Alpha and Kenneth of Galesburg; a daughter, Mrs. John (Rosemary) Yeager of Oneida; two brothers: Carl of Mendota and Ernest of East Peoria; a sister, Mrs. Warren (Edna) Champion of Peoria; and nine grandchildren.
